Is “Bad” stronger than “Good?
The article “Bad is stronger than good” is giving me a lot of ideas to ponder. ( Here is the LINK to it. )
This is a VERY slow read for me. I find myself going back and reading the same areas again and again for better clarity. I also find myself getting upset and/or a bit perturbed about the results of the studies. It does not seem to be a very good report on our human condition. However, it seems to be making me more aware of my own negative vs, positive internal reactions on various things. I feel like I want to alter and strengthen the “good” perspectives and attitudes to overcompensate for the others.
I also find that the positive practices of B1 Depressed - “Bad to Good” and C1 Overwhelmed - “Positive Reason” are ways to help alter the way in which “bad” is defined or determined. My mind also wanders back to the idea of life purpose is to learn as I explored in my book, ‘This Gift called Life’. That perhaps all of the “bad'“ things that happen to us are just opportunities for us to learn and grow from if we decide too. So in other words, we either chose to climb over obstacles or let them crush us - all up to us.
However, if this is the case- that the ‘bad’ things are intended as ways for “good” aspects to form and/or strengthen… how can they be truly “bad”? I guess, unless no learning or growth takes place; then the transformation would not happen. As quoted from William Shakespeare’s tragedy, Hamlet. “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so”.
I find that i truly want Think about Thinking to be a catalyst to make a change to where we humans are more inclined, driven and focused on the positives instead of the negatives. I have found myself purposefully revisiting, wallowing and mentally rolling around in the wonderful, magically powerful positive things that are going on in my life every time i start thinking in a negative way. Sort of my own battle of sorts within myself; it is like i am trying my best to have the things i am reading in that article to be true to me. :)
