If life on earth is ending…
I was pondering this morning about what if someone you truly trusted just told you yesterday that life as we know it on this planet was ending - Very SOON. What would I do? What do I need to say to that person and others? What instructions would I give for others to follow?
Just the idea of this triggers within me great fear. Yet, Immediately, my mind shouts, “STAY CALM. Push the FEAR away!”
I automatically realize that panic, terror and despair are to be avoided. Could this realization be from all the years I have spent gathering, researching and creating for TaT? I am not sure, perhaps. However, I also have learned about myself from how I handled many past traumatic experiences, I typically do, stay calm and push fear away. It is as though someone else takes over and instantly i know what to do. It seems that when faced with awful scenarios – the calmer and more logical my thoughts and actions are. For this I feel blessed and also reiterates how I believe that this is the most beneficial way to be.
Fear and despair are siblings; they cause our higher thoughts to quit. They disable logical reasoning and shut down other capabilities such as wisdom and higher comprehensions from taking place. This allows our our body urges and lower emotions to take control resulting in us becoming impulsively reactive primal creatures.
From years of teaching children, I have learned many basic truths. The one that relates to this topic the most is that when surrounded by a chaotic environment, the only thing one needs to do is to properly control one’s self – thoughts – emotions and actions to best handle the situation. This applies to this scenario and other things that are beyond our control.
Quotes have always been helpful to me. I came across these today that were helpful to me on this pondered subject.
“Everything you've ever wanted is sitting on the other side of fear.”
— George Addair
This reinforces in me that the salvation of mankind in a doomsday scenario – would still be held within the aspect of courage… being afraid and yet, thinking and acting without it being the controlling factor.
"Worry is a misuse of imagination."
—Unknown
I know that it is ultimate important to use our 3 Powers within us to continue to shape our perspectives of reality.
Intelligence – what CAN we do.
Will-power – choosing to stay calm, balanced and peaceful while facing fear.
Imagination – what MIGHT we be able to do – envisioning endless possibilities of choices.
Using these qualities together along with working with others that are doing the same – that is what I hope to do. And what I have now instructed others (you) to do.
